Intellectual Property from the workers point of view

What is the progressive position on intellectual property?

authors

pro strong-IP. recording artists

pro-strong IP. inventors

pro strong IP - note the threats from "reform" sponsored by big companies.

What's interesting is that the so-called "progressive" point of view of "anarchist" employees of big media companies, former Scalia law clerks, and the big media companies themselves align against the positions taken by the workers who make "content" and inventions. The argument that authors and musicians should prize "publicity and exposure" more than, uh, money, and that innovators and creative people don't need protection against copying are not arguments that strike fear at Viacom or Fox.
